Christmas 2007 part 2

Here's my granddaughter Sarah with her new alpaca hat that her daddy bought her! It was a busy day for all of us. She made us all tired just watching her going from one toy to the next! And the dogs. She wanted a ride on Bruski so she got on his back many times but he would just stand up and she would slide off to the floor...it was amusing to say the least about watching them.

Look at my hat Grammy and Grampy! Aren't I cute! lol She sure has changed in two months. She has become more loving and affectionate. But she needs to hone those kissing skills some....they are quite an experience!

Sarah loves to pose for the camera! This is her new hat I knit for her. Her mom doesn't like the fun fur yarn, but Sarah sure did!

Christmas 2007

"Grammy, I Love my new hat!!! She took a couple of tries before she decided she liked this new hat. She played with it on most of the day.

Poor Dog! Sarah wanted to ride him all day. He loves her so much and lets her do anything to him....she pulls his ears, mouth, neck, back and tail and he just lays there.

Sarah and her chocolate munchkin we brought her! That girl loves her chocolate!

My neighbor is snow blowing his yard...the winds are quite strong so he is working hard not to look like a snowman!

This photo I took from my truck on Sunday morning as I was driving down the street next to ours. There are people walking if you look carefully you can see a blur past the stop sign. I only decided to go out so I could see how much damage was done to John and Kathy Civelleo's home from the fire the evening before.

As you can see in this picture, they lost both of their vehicles and the garage. It was also stated that they lost all their belongings, from furniture to clothing. They were both at home when the fire started, but it had a big head start before the fire department was called. They tried to call 911, but the phone kept disconnecting, so one of our policemen were sent to see what the problem was...when he got there it was a fully involved fire! John and Kathy both were safe, but shaken. They are staying with his mother. You can see more photos at www.ourmainecommunity.com Click on Katahdin chat and then "terrible fire". The area has responded with many gifts and money to help them through this terrible time.
Or you can go to www.bangornews.com click on penobscot and you will see the article there.

Monday I went to camp and plowed the road in and out and our yard. It was hard moving due to the sleet we got towards the end of the storm. Glad to be living in town and not having to get up and plow during the night when we have these big storms. It makes it a lot easier to move when you do it a few times while its snowing instead of waiting until its done and a lot of it to move!

Today I started wrapping my Christmas gifts to go with us Friday. Since DH has to work Christmas Day we will be having our Christmas on Saturday. We will come home on Sunday and DH will have to work Christmas Eve also. First time in many years he's had to work Christmas. Oh well, Sarah is too small to know the difference, so we will enjoy out time with them!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Meg's Vest is Finished!!

Finally got the arm openings and neck band finished. It is in the Christmas box waiting to be wrapped! I can't believe it is done and now I can knit what I want to for whoever I want to give it too! MERRY CHRISTMAS, MEG!!!!

I knit this from More Maine Sweaters by Helene Rush. The book is one that I've had for a while and the patterns are all for adults. I have all of Helene Rush's knitting pattern books. The yarn is Cascade 220 in gray.

I think I will knit a couple of fun fur scarves for my niece for a Christmas gift and I need to make two or three more Lucy Bags. The Lucy Bag pattern if from two old bags and I can't remember which website I got it from, but I've had it for a few years now.

Lucy Bags

As you can see I have two done...and I knit them exactly the same.....but one is smaller then the other one. Why is that? I washed them together in the same machine! lol Oh well....LOL

The one on the right is smaller and a lot more felted then the left one. ?????? No idea why that would happen. Same machine, same temp, same amount of stitches and rows????? What the hell is going on with this now??????????

While sitting in the truck tonight I finished the back of this vest. I decided to take a couple of pictures of it in the snow. I hope you can see the cables and all the neat designs in it.

MOOSE at camp today!

Here ia a cow moose and her calf. We were very surprised that they did not run when we backed up the truck so I could take some pictures of them. We were about 20 yards from them. It was a very busy day for the moose on the Cedar Lake Road today! We saw another one a few miles closer to the camp! Boy are they big!

This is this years baby for her. I am surprised at how quickly they grow. Can't tell is its male or female...not close enough to see that part of it! HA HA
So surprised they just stood there watching us in the truck! I think they would have taken off if we had stopped when we first spotted them...we backed up and they were just as curious as we were! I bet they wish they had a camera too!

Wish I were a kid again!

Only one sled, but they sure are having a great time with it!

These are the neighbors kids sliding down a big pile of snow their dad piled up from all the snow this week. The have been out side all weekend enjoying the snow and the mild weather. (I say mild because it will be well below zero in a few weeks). I enjoy watching them...they are having so much fun!

GOD I HATE SNOW!!! LOL PART 3

Posted by Picasa

A little snow on the grill in the first picture. The next ones were taken from the truck on my ride back....route 11. I noticed a lot of moose tracks on the sides of the roads so driving means watching out for those giant creatures day and night. A friend of ours hit one the other night on his way home just past our lake road turn off. Poor things are so dark that you just don't see them until its too late. Some of them run 1000 pounds...so hit one of them and pray you re the one that survives and without too many injuries. Our ambulance hit one a week ago while transporting a patient to EMMC in Bangor. They had to call East Millinocket to send an ambulance to get the patient and continue to the hospital....luckily no one was hurt but the vehicle. ( http://www.katahdinpress.com )

GOD I HATE SNOW!!! LOL Part 2

As you can see in the dark pictures, it is snowing at camp! I am so sick of this white shit and winter hasn't even started yet according to the calendar. LOL More snow is predicted for next week...and I would rather have the snow then the rain, ice mixture we have seen so much of the last couple of years.

The last two pictures we taken yesterday afternoon when I was at camp fixing the snowblower. I agree with my husband...he wants to retire some place nice and warm. He said he is going to put the snowblower on the back of the truck and drive until we get somewhere and someone asks what the hell that contraption is in our truck! LOL

GOD I HATE SNOW! LOL

Snow, snow and more snow! We got 18 inches of snow in two days. All we have done is plow, snow blow and shovel this shit all week long. Another little storm came through and it only left behind a dusting to 2 inches..depending on if you're in town or at the lake! DH has been plowing at work all week and is working the weekend so we have been going to camp after he gets home and cleaning up that place. The sheer pin broke on the snowblower, so I went to the store yesterday and bought 3 of them with the washers and nuts. So I drove to the lake and fixed that. Was going to finish the deck where DH had left behind a lot of snow from cleaning off the roof, but the gas tank was empty. So I can't lift that 6 gallon thingy so that was the end of that good deed! Drove home and and went to bed to read and rest my poor aching back! I plowed the lake road in and out too! So that burned about 5 gallons of gas that ride up and back! But the road is now wide and there is room for a lot of snow before anyone has to find someone to come in and wing the snow banks back to make room for more snow.
So DH gets home from work and wants to go back to camp! Damn, just put $40.00 worth of gas in it last night and it's almost gone! I have put in over $120.00 worth of gas this week between the two vehicles and then I wonder where his paycheck went! I guess no groceries again this week. (Good think I but in bulk when I get to Sam's Club in Bangor).

OTN!
I have two Lucy bags knit and felted. I have enough yarn to make another couple so there will be a few knit after Christmas for my craft show in October.
I also have the back almost done on Meg's vest. Hope to get some pics of that on here too!

Now let's see if I can get those pictures downloaded on the computer so I can post them to this blog. I still need to take come pics of the felted bags, but just haven't had time to do it....Christmas is coming too fast again! HELP!

SNOW DAY!!!

Today the whole state of Maine is shut down! Before the snow even started here in Millinocket, the schools were closed and a lot of people didn't go to work. The southern part of the state got the snow early am and it started here around 7 am. The fire department horn blowing 8-8-8 woke me at 6:30 am to let everyone know that school had been cancelled. We are supposed to get anywhere from 12" to 20" by Tuesday morning. It is 1 pm and there is probably a little over an inch on the ground here. The snow is now coming down a lot steadier and it is starting to accumulate faster. I will be plowing while DH is at work tonight. He will not be coming home at 3 today for sure. He will have to stay until 11 pm to plow and salt and sand the roads in and around the mill complex. Supposed to have a big supper tonight with baked, stuffed chicken, mashed potatoes and fresh carrots. Oh well, will cook the chicken and make him a nice hot chicken sandwich and take it into the mill. He will be happy to have it...home cooking and some fresh home made bread.

I have been knitting away on the Lucy Bag for Christmas gifts. Have one completed and one half done. I also finished a pair of pink wool socks, and have half of the wool aran vest I am knitting for a Christmas gift for my DIL's mother. She loved the ones I knit for baby Sarah and I thought she would love to have one also.

I hope to be able to post some pictures later today of the snow and my knitting.

Stay warm all and

KNIT ON!!
